Hydropower

Harnessing the power of water to generate electricity. Hydroelectric power plants convert the energy of flowing or falling water into electrical power by driving turbines. EUT has been a leader in the planning and implementation of hydropower plants since the 1990s."

Schmiede hydroelectric power plant, Moos in Passeier (South Tyrol)

The Schmiede Hydroelectric Power Plant is a high-performance renewable energy project developed to sustainably harness local water resources. In 2016, EUT Engineering prepared the concession project for the facility. Following the granting of the water concession by the Autonomous Province of Bolzano in 2020, EUT Engineering was entrusted with the overall planning and construction management of the project. Construction was carried out between 2021 and 2025, with provisional commissioning on 18 November 2022. The power plant has a maximum capacity of approximately 4.2 MW and generates an average annual output of around 21 million kWh, making a significant contribution to regional renewable energy production. Total construction costs amounted to approximately €11 million.
