Hydropower plants

Water power technology has been used for the generation of electricity for over a century. This form of power production is considered particularly environmentally-friendly and efficient. Nevertheless the reduction of natural discharges in the used river sections and the construction of structures such as water intakes, pipes, tunnels and powerhouses have a certain impact on the landscape. The careful and responsible planning and design of hydropower plants and the compatible integration of the structures into the landscape keeps this within reasonable limits in terms of sustainable development.
