Design competitions are a popular method used by both public and private contracting bodies in the awarding of design services for building and civil engineering projects. These competitions allow the creative talents of planners to be challenged and compared with the aim of finding the “best” project. For this reason, in contrast to conventional design tenders, it is not the service itself that is the focus of such competitions of ideas, but rather the project or the project solution. Such design or ideas competitions thus offer the greatest possible variety of solutions for planning tasks while particularly encouraging the aesthetic, technical, functional, environmental, economic and social qualities of the project solution being developed. EUT Engineering - Ltd has risen to these “creative” challenges, participating on a number of design contests in recent years.
